MCC’s Family Support Giving Fund Now Accepting Applications | Local News
Morgan’s Caring Connection (MCC), a Dane County-based nonprofit supporting families of individuals with special needs, has announced the launch of its Family Support Giving Fund – a dedicated initiative designed to help families cover the legal and professional fees associated with essential future-planning steps such as guardianship, special needs trusts and financial planning.
“Too many caregivers put off planning because it feels overwhelming and expensive,” MCC Executive Director and Co-Founder Janis Strutt said. “The Family Support Giving Fund changes that. We remove financial barriers, connect families with vetted professionals and offer peace of mind that their loved one will be protected – today and for years to come.”
The Family Support Giving Fund reflects MCC’s commitment to transparency, purpose and impact by ensuring that every dollar donated is clearly accounted for, intentionally managed and visibly connected to the families it supports. Through this fund, donors can see how their contributions make a tangible difference, building confidence and deepening community trust.
The fund supports three key pathways based on families’ most common needs:
-
Guardianship Support – Assistance with attorney fees and filing costs
-
Special Needs Trust Support – Help establishing or funding a trust that protects benefits
-
Financial Planning Support – Access to fiduciary guidance for long-term financial stability
In addition to financial support, MCC connects families with a professional network – a vetted group of estate-planning attorneys, financial advisors and community partners who understand disability benefits, care coordination and the complex legal considerations of long-term planning.
“Planning isn’t about pressure – it’s about empowerment,” Strutt said. “Our goal is to meet families where they are, walk beside them and provide the resources they need to create a secure and lasting future.”
Families may apply year-round through MCC’s website at morganscc.org. Applications are reviewed in the order received, with considerations for urgency.
As part of the process, applicants are invited to share a family photo and a short story to help demonstrate the real-word impact of each award.
MCC welcomes individual donations, recurring gifts and business sponsorships to sustain the Family Support Giving Fund. Sponsors can underwrite specific support pathways or match funds for family awards. In-kind contributions from professional partners (legal, financial or related services) are also encouraged.
Founded in 2024 in memory of Morgan Strutt, MCC helps families of special needs dependents plan for tomorrow through financial assistance, trusted professional referrals and practical education.
MCC’s mission is to help families establish long-term financial stability for their loved ones – so they can rest easier knowing a plan is in place.
